As a bonus to their users they were making available free domain names to the first customers who got a code for them. I was able to secure one yesterday and decided to get a name that worked with the extension from &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montenegro"&gt;Montenegro&lt;/a&gt;, .me. So for now, the domain http://youcanbuyfrom.me is mine and I have it pointing to my TSC Sales store, but may set up a web site with my other site too (http://silverscreenbooks.com/).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We'll see if that helps drive some sales, which have been anemic to say the least. And remember, if the same person buys more than one item, I'll combine shipping.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-2963192479358813488?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/2963192479358813488/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=2963192479358813488' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/2963192479358813488'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/2963192479358813488'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2009/11/hey-cleveland-browns-cleveland-indians.html' title='Hey, Cleveland Browns &amp; Cleveland Indians Fans'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-1209246017702936757</id><published>2009-10-08T08:39:00.001-07:00</published><updated>2009-10-08T08:42:36.321-07:00</updated><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='shoes'/><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='snakeskin'/><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='brutini'/><title type='text'>Nice Snakeskin Shoes - Giorgio Brutini</title><content type='html'>&lt;a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_actWhXlo6uo/Ss4ILXaZG_I/AAAAAAAAAGs/39T8Y0gcKLA/s1600-h/Snakeskin+Shoes.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 153px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390254795365358578" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_actWhXlo6uo/Ss4ILXaZG_I/AAAAAAAAAGs/39T8Y0gcKLA/s200/Snakeskin+Shoes.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;More clearance items, a nice pair of Size 13M &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5593154"&gt;Giorgio Brutini snakeskin shoes&lt;/a&gt;. Yum!!!</title><content type='html'>As I said yesterday, we went to some church rummage sales and I picked up a number of Vintage Cookbooks. I now have them up in my store in the Cookbook section &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/category.php?cid=375215"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. Those newly listed cookbooks date from 1936 up to 1970 and there's some delicious recipes in each of them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My favorite is the 1955 cookbook titled &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572957"&gt;Who Says We Can't Cook!&lt;/a&gt; issued by the Women's National Press Club with recipes from various members of the press. There's a whole section that has recipes from some of the top names in Washington: a Beef Stew Recipe for 60 from President Eisenhower as well as recipes from 1st Lady Mamie Eisenhower, former 1st Ladies Eleanor Roosevelt, Grace Coolidge and Bess Truman and then future 1st Lady Pat Nixon. Recipes from Sam Rayburn and LBJ and Washington's "most eligible bacholor" J. Edgar Hoover.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also interesting is a 1948 cookbook titled &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572898"&gt;What's Cookin'&lt;/a&gt; from the Ladies Auxiliary for J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huningdon, Pennsylvania. Interesting recipe? Wine Jelly!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Are you into hunting and cooking your game? Here's the 1970 cookbook &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572787"&gt;How To Cook His Goose (&amp;amp; Other Wild Game)&lt;/a&gt;. Lots of great tips and recipes in this one.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And another favorite: &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572572"&gt;What You Can Do with Jell-o&lt;/a&gt;, a 1936 booklet. Other cookbooks now in stock are about &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572874"&gt;Chinese Cooking&lt;/a&gt;, cooking &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572825"&gt;Leftovers&lt;/a&gt;, other &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572711"&gt;International Cooking&lt;/a&gt; by the woman who ran Menus By Mail and a 1948 volume on &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5572659"&gt;cooking things right&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Again, be sure to check out all of our &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/category.php?cid=375215"&gt;cookbooks at TSC-Sales.com&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bon Appetit!&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-644465023762731136?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/644465023762731136/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=644465023762731136' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/644465023762731136'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/644465023762731136'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2009/10/more-cookbooks-yum.html' title='More Cookbooks! Bicycle is a brand of the U.S. Playing Card Co. here in the Cincinnati area. I saw the cards were still in their cellophane wrappers. When I got home and examined them closer, I saw they still had the IRS tax stamps still on the cards. They read "Play Cardds" at the top, "1 Pack" in the center and "U.S. Int. Rev." below. Likewise, each pack has a round purple U.S. Playing Card sticker showing their famed Spade symbol with the woman in the middle (Lady Liberty?). As I said earlier, both packs are still covered in cellophane, although one has a loose end. The box itself is in worn condition, a blue top showing the King riding a bike, the bottom is gold and has two of the cards glued to it. The cards are from around 1950 since the rules booklet states it is "incorporating the latest changes made for 1950."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;So my question is, do I have a nice find here? Is there more worth to these with the tax stamps on them. I assume since the cards are still sealed, that's better than not.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-8603431339166744746?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/8603431339166744746/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=8603431339166744746' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/8603431339166744746'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/8603431339166744746'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2009/10/us-playing-card-bicycle-cards-with-tax.html' title='U.S. Playing Card Bicycle Cards with Tax Stamps'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_actWhXlo6uo/SsnzIxyEY4I/AAAAAAAAAGc/7TxFURzvBEw/s72-c/Canasta+cards+complete.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-5790167846695669529</id><published>2009-09-14T08:26:00.001-07:00</published><updated>2009-09-23T06:15:15.841-07:00</updated><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Twitter'/><title type='text'>Now on Twitter - TSCinti</title><content type='html'>I'm now highlighting items from my store on Twitter under the ID TSCSales. There are no identifying markings on the front or back of the piece.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Any clues?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-1337485407861219431?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/1337485407861219431/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=1337485407861219431' title='1 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/1337485407861219431'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/1337485407861219431'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2008/08/chagalls-fiddler-screenprint.html' title='Chagall&apos;s Fiddler Screenprint Reproduction'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>1</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-1464311500596337929</id><published>2008-08-02T13:55:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2009-09-14T08:25:45.565-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Ken Griffey Jr. Moves on - now with the White Sox</title><content type='html'>&lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/32239/4858dbbf56d40_32239n.jpg"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/32239/4786b88f96301_32239n.jpg"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;a href="http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2008/08/01/PH2008080103642.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; FLOAT: left; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2008/08/01/PH2008080103642.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;It wasn't unexpected, but the anticipated move of Ken Griffey Jr. from the Cincinnati Reds to the Chicago White Sox took place on the last day of July. For Reds fans, it was a thrill to have one of the greatest baseball players of all time on our team, even if it never turned out as expected. Griffey did hit more than 200 home runs with his hometown team. Towards the beginning a bit jumped out at me as a seller of items found here and about. It made me think of the selling online that many of us do, finding treasures here and selling them to others all over the world. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He wrote:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;I can never get used to the thousands of antique shops along the roads, all&lt;br /&gt;bulging with authentic and attested trash from an earlier time. I believe&lt;br /&gt;the population of the thirteen colonies was less than four million souls, and&lt;br /&gt;every one of them must have been frantically turning out tables, chairs, china,&lt;br /&gt;glass, candle molds, and oddly shaped bits of iron, copper, and brass for future&lt;br /&gt;sale to twentieth-century tourists. There are enough antiques for sale&lt;br /&gt;along the roads of New England alone to furnish the houses of a population of&lt;br /&gt;fifty million. If I were a good businessman, and cared a tittle for my&lt;br /&gt;unborn great grandchildren, which I do not, I would gather all the junk and the&lt;br /&gt;wrecked automobiles, comb the city dumps, and pile these gleanings in mountains&lt;br /&gt;and spray the whole thing with that stuff the Navy uses to mothball ships.&lt;br /&gt;At the end of a hundred years by &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;descendants&lt;/span&gt; would be permitted to open this&lt;br /&gt;treasure trove and would be the &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;antique&lt;/span&gt; kings of the world. If the&lt;br /&gt;battered, cracked, and broken stuff our ancestors tried to get rid of now brings&lt;br /&gt;this much money, think what a 1954 Oldsmobile, or a 1960 toastmaster will bring&lt;br /&gt;- and a vintage Waring &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;Mixor&lt;/span&gt; - Lord the possibilities are endless! Check out &lt;a href="http://silverscreenbooks.ecrater.com/"&gt;Silver Screen Books&lt;/a&gt; now!&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-3377472715644620309?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/3377472715644620309/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=3377472715644620309' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/3377472715644620309'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/3377472715644620309'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2008/05/silver-screen-books-is-now-open.html' title='Silver Screen Books is now open!'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://bp0.blogger.com/_actWhXlo6uo/SCBQY1h_H4I/AAAAAAAAACw/srIfgiMK8O0/s72-c/Silver+Screen+Books.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-6209576579914092993</id><published>2008-04-18T02:22:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2008-05-05T11:45:00.002-07:00</updated><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Skyline Chili'/><title type='text'>Spreading the Chili Gospel</title><content type='html'>&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://s3.amazonaws.com/capture_cincinnati/upload/1190142449685/full.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: pointer" alt="" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/capture_cincinnati/upload/1190142449685/full.jpg" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/32239/46a50d88b58d6_32239n.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: pointer" alt="" src="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/32239/46a50d88b58d6_32239n.jpg" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.capturecincinnati.com/photo/4532"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our weekly free city newspaper, &lt;a href="http://citybeat.com/gyrobase/Home"&gt;City Beat&lt;/a&gt;, had a great column about Cincinnati's famous &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Skyline Chili&lt;/a&gt; and its hold on its afficianados. I've shipped hundreds of packs of this local delicacy all around the country.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's the column:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p class="articletitle"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;p class="articletitle"&gt;Living Out Loud&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="contentSubHead"&gt;Spreading the &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Chili&lt;/a&gt; Gospel&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="author"&gt;By Sara Bedinghaus&lt;/p&gt;If there's one thing people from Cincinnati love, it's chili. We love eating it, and we love talking about it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those of us who have moved away from the area have cans of chili and spice packets mailed to us. When we return home, it's often the first thing we eat, and then we continue to eat it on a daily basis to hold us over 'til next time. &lt;p&gt;Another thing we love is making people who aren't from Cincinnati eat it. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Last summer, I made a decision that many Cincinnatians in their twenties make: to leave town and live somewhere else. Since moving across the country, I've forced canned chili upon many of my new friends, only to find that most of them think Cincinnati chili -- specifically &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Skyline&lt;/a&gt; -- isn't that big of a deal. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Since most people I know from home seem to have a substance abuse issue when it comes to Skyline, I'm still caught off-guard when someone isn't elated upon tasting this wildly delicious and comforting dish for the first time. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I recently made &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Skyline&lt;/a&gt; three-ways for my two roommates, one who went to college in Cincinnati and one from Minneapolis. The Minneapolis roommate sat silently while we chiliphiles reminisced about chili days past. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Did you ever see Alan and Stevo go to the chili eating contests? They used to eat, like, three three-ways and four cheese coneys. It was so awesome!" &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"When I worked at Skyline, the old people would bitch about the price of coneys. 'I remember when cheese coneys were a nickel!' " &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Oh, this brings back memories. I wish I were drunk right now." &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My chili-appreciating friend and I did try to change the subject in order to be inclusive to the Minnesotan, but the conversation kept going back to all the fun times we had stuffing our faces with cheese-covered chili spaghetti and hot dog dishes in the middle of the night. We've now begun trying to recreate the experience for those who never had the pleasure of injesting these 1,000-calorie bombs at 3 a.m. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Those of us who prepare the homemade version outside Cincinnati just love watching people eat it for the first time. We get no greater joy than when the chili virgin enjoys the meal, and we enthusiastically embrace their naive questions about the cuisine. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"What is '&lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Skyline&lt;/a&gt;'?" &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Skyline&lt;/a&gt; is to chili as Kleenex is to tissue. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Wait, you put the chili on the noodles?" &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes! See how exciting this is? &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Where are the beans?" &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;No, silly, beans are only on four-ways and five-ways. Baby steps. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"That's a lot of cheese." &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yes, it's obscene. That's how you have to do it! &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Do you ever actually feel good after you eat &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Skyline&lt;/a&gt;?" &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;No, but it doesn't matter, because it feels so good when you're chewing it. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Is there a healthy version of this?" &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Of course, they offer the low-carb bowl: two hot dogs in a bowl of chili. Duh! &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Hey, I'm switching planes in Cincinnati on my way to New York." &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Eat some chili! They have Gold Star at the airport, and that's close enough for these purposes. Your unsophisticated chili palette won't know the difference. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;When the chili newbie enjoys our concoction, we feel as though we've helped someone reach a heightened level of food enjoyment. To think they've come this far without ever passing such beefy gold through their digestive system. A travesty, really. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The same phenomenon of chili gospel applies to out-of-town visitors. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My friend once brought her boyfriend from Colorado to Cincinnati to meet her friends and family. We all converged at Northside Tavern, and immediately after introductions we pounded the poor guy with chili questions. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Did Rachel take you to &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1252515"&gt;Skyline&lt;/a&gt;? What did you order? Did you like it? Did you like it?" &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;He thought the chili was OK. He thought we were truly insane. We haven't seen him since, and I wonder if the chili interrogation has anything to do with that. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Some people get it, though. I once treated a friend from Washington, D.C. to late night &lt;a href="http://www.capturecincinnati.com/photo/4532"&gt;Skyline at the Clifton&lt;/a&gt; location. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Oh, oh my gosh," he mumbled through a mouthful of steaming hot spaghetti. "This is the best drunk food I've ever had in my life." &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I will never forget that victory, but I'm also aware that many who have witnessed a Cincinnatian's eyes light up with enthusiasm for teaching people about chili might think we're nuts. After all, do any other cities have such a loyal food following? &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I've never heard of anyone from Baltimore or Seattle or Atlanta or Philadelphia having canned local food shipped to them "for an emergency or special occasion." With so many losing sports teams, depressing election results and a national reputation for weirdness (Jerry Springer, Marge Schott, Larry Flint, Maplethorpe censorship, race riots), this is the one thing we hold onto with pride. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Please know that those of us who have left Cincinnati probably miss the chili more than anything else. We're littered among many American cities, wielding cans of chili and an enthusiasm for preparing foreign fare. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Outsiders don't have to like it, but we demand to be humored. It's the only thing we have that might possibly impress them.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-6209576579914092993?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/6209576579914092993/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=6209576579914092993' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/6209576579914092993'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/6209576579914092993'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2008/04/spreading-chili-gospel.html' title='Spreading the Chili Gospel'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-5872665071726616042</id><published>2008-04-12T16:23:00.001-07:00</published><updated>2008-04-14T04:45:12.572-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Journeys Through Bookland</title><content type='html'>&lt;a href="http://bp2.blogger.com/_actWhXlo6uo/SANDwDqZVRI/AAAAAAAAACo/vn1BaixFkUY/s1600-h/Bookland+Set+2.jpg"&gt;&lt;img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189065688556852498" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_actWhXlo6uo/SANDwDqZVRI/AAAAAAAAACo/vn1BaixFkUY/s200/Bookland+Set+2.jpg" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;What a great title for a eleven volume set of books for children's classic literature. Following is a press release about eCrater.com reaching the 1,000,000 items listed mark.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Check out all the items I have listed on eCrater - and &lt;a href="http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2008/01/restructuring-old-storefront-baseball.html"&gt;this blog entry&lt;/a&gt; for a breakdown of the store's sections.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/"&gt;http://tscsales.ecrater.com/&lt;/a&gt; - our featured item is Cincinnati's famous Skyline Chili&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;strong&gt;eCRATER.com passed the 1,000,000 item count on Monday 3/10/08 !!! &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Love to buy and sell online? Try www.ecrater.com for jewelry, books, fashion, antiques, electronics, etc. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;eCrater is more than just a marketplace of fixed-price listings. It's a free web-hosting site where sellers manage their own stores (like eBay Stores but better organized). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On eCrater, shoppers can access an individual seller's site directly or may search for products from the main eCrater.com website (http://www.ecrater.com). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The beauty of eCrater is that it is so simple. Sellers can point their websites to their eCrater page using URL masking, so buyers will only see the seller's website address (not eCrater's). This makes it seem more professional, and more like your own website rather than a page on someone else's site (as you get with eBay Stores). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;eCrater has a feedback feature just like eBay, and some of the better features of Feedback 2.0 were integrated, well before eBay launched them. eCrater allows sellers to accept PayPal and Google Checkout and has plans to add Amazon Payments. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Premium Listings &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;eCrater is completely free, but the site does offer premium positions. A position on the home page, which merchants can use to rotate their products, costs $100/month. (The position is booked through the end of March 2008.) A position on the top of all listings in a category costs $25/month per item and guarantees a premium top spot in the category. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;New Features &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;eCrater also added a "mods" system. The idea is similar to the Wikipedia content control. Moderators make sure that all the listings belong in the correct category and are compliant with eCrater's policies. As a certified Google Checkout partner eCrater will make sure that all listings are compliant with Google Checkout's and Google Base's policies too. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Moderators receive a small icon next to their store name as a bonus for their efforts, making their stores stand out from the others. &lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-8705270511355241137?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/8705270511355241137/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=8705270511355241137' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/8705270511355241137'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/8705270511355241137'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2008/03/ecratercom-growing-reaches-one-million.html' title='eCrater.com growing - reaches the One Million mark for listings!'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-522423321334171752</id><published>2008-03-16T15:41:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2008-03-17T04:44:52.897-07:00</updated><title type='text'>See what I'm selling on iOffer.com</title><content type='html'>&lt;span&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.ioffer.com/users/tscsales?source=widget" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.ioffer.com/user/widget_render/tscsales" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="display: none; font-size: 0px"&gt;&lt;script&gt;var ioffer_widget_random_number = Math.round(1000000*Math.random());document.write('&lt;span id="span' + ioffer_widget_random_number + '"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;');document.getElementById("span" + ioffer_widget_random_number).parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("img")[0].style.display = "none";document.getElementById("span" + ioffer_widget_random_number).parentNode.style.display = "block";&lt;/script&gt;&lt;script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.ioffer.com/user/widget_render/tscsales?render=js"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-522423321334171752?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/522423321334171752/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=522423321334171752' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/522423321334171752'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/522423321334171752'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2008/03/var-iofferwidgetrandomnumber-math.html' title='See what I&apos;m selling on iOffer.com'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-4937572285422755598</id><published>2008-03-06T16:40:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2008-03-06T16:42:44.938-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Now up &amp; running on iOffer.com</title><content type='html'>&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://i3.iofferphoto.com/img/item/423/074/31/47a38c5737a7d_32239n.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px;" src="http://i3.iofferphoto.com/img/item/423/074/31/47a38c5737a7d_32239n.jpg" alt="" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've added a store at &lt;a href="http://www.ioffer.com/selling/tscsales"&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration: underline;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;iOffer.com&lt;/a&gt; so check out my items there too. While we're not being buried in snow, the last couple of weeks have been a weather roller coaster; warming up a bit, bitterly cold next and snow, ice, rain and then more snow. A little bit of sunshine has been mixed in and we no spring is just on the horizen because the &lt;a href="http://mlb.mlb.com/cin/schedule/cin_schedule_affiliates.jsp"&gt;Reds are on the radio &lt;/a&gt;now (a good time to see our &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/category.php?cid=369576"&gt;Baseball Emporium&lt;/a&gt;).&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;But the Reds are not the purpose of this blog entry. The issue told of that year's awards for viewers or listeners' favorite shows (hence the name TV Radio Mirror). Fascinating find and had so many great oldtime shows.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The real surprise personally was the bit about the show named the favorite children's program on radio, Sparkie &amp;amp; Big Jon, a radio show that began here in Cincinnati, broadcasting daily. By 1956, it was a weekly show, on Saturday mornings, I believe. The reason it jumped out at me is that a friend's dad was the writer for this show during its run on radio. I made copies of the article for my friend and she was going to give some to her family (their dad passed away earlier this year), so they're enjoying reading about the show and its popularity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Have a look at the listing &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1788715"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-936867502644820515?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/936867502644820515/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=936867502644820515' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/936867502644820515'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/936867502644820515'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2007/12/sparkie-big-jon.html' title='Sparkie &amp; Big Jon'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7492926246514487036.post-8596440464860179354</id><published>2007-12-11T12:59:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2007-12-14T06:18:31.561-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Laughing with Bennett Cerf</title><content type='html'>Last year, I picked up a copy of Bennett Cerf's Vest Pocket Book of Jokes, a faux leather volume that fits, where else, but in your shirt pocket. One caught my attention right away - it had a signature right on the front!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It was a book for the 1991 Kroger Senior PGA Tour Classic at Kings Island just north of Cincinnati. I couldn't make whose signature it was, but it looked like "Jim" with a letter "S" last name, but I wasn't sure. The list of players in the book didn't give me any clues, but I thought I'd give it a try, bought it and came back to research who it was.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After a couple of views on Google, I came up with it. out&lt;br /&gt;While you're at it, check out my &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/category.php?cid=320820"&gt;signed books&lt;/a&gt; in my eCrater store (including a book about the Football Hall of Fame that has three Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame players &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1488836"&gt;signatures&lt;/a&gt; I'm always looking for great items to sell and on most everything, I'll ship worldwide!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My regular sales items are two items: Cincinnati's famous Skyline chili (sorry, no international orders) and an I Miss Bill bumper sticker from the Clinton Center in Little Rock. I sell both items on eCrater and eBay.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From time to time, I'll highlight new items I've found and also some of the backlog of inventory I have. For instance, I've got quite a few Norman Rockwell commemorative plates listed on my &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/"&gt;eCrater site &lt;/a&gt;(see link on the right).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I also have quite a few books which have been autographed by the authors - not to mention a book about the Football Hall of Fame autographed by three Cleveland Browns who are members of the Hall of Fame in Canton.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm checking on how to add a link for all of the books I have on sales on Amazon. I will add some to the &lt;a href="http://tscsales.ecrater.com/"&gt;eCrater site &lt;/a&gt;as I go along.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Check us out!&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7492926246514487036-3621178387254054987?l=tscsales.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/feeds/3621178387254054987/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7492926246514487036&amp;postID=3621178387254054987' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/3621178387254054987'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7492926246514487036/posts/default/3621178387254054987'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tscsales.blogspot.com/2007/10/its-start.html' title='It&apos;s a Start!'/><author><name>Joe Metz</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/14521977783509178760</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry></feed>
